Still working on Thanksgiving 2022 (TGV 2022) entries. I made two desserts that year–one of which was this one, 16-21: Apple Pie with Crumb Topping. Gotta have some type of apple dessert for Thanksgiving. The other was 14-37: Chocolate Soufflé, which I posted right after this one.

FYI, by “crumb topping”, they essentially mean a streusel. Not sure why they didn’t name it that instead, but there you go.

Pretty simple as far as ingredients go. Is the picture in the corner supposed to be lemon juice?

Ingredients. By “tart apples”, they usually mean the green type (like Granny Smith). I went with all brown sugar (instead of using both granulated and brown) for mostly simplicity, but also flavor.

Using my food processor to make the crumble topping.

However, I did the apples by hand with a knife.

I’m using a tart pan for this, which may or may not be a good idea.

It looked great around the edges, but not so great towards the middle. Oh well. Note the sprinkle mixture in the bowl to the right.

After sprinkling, but before crumbling.

Packing that crumble topping down pretty tight (but not too tight).

After baking. Besides the edges, it’s pretty tough to tell a difference between the before and after.

Sliced in–carefully, since it was still on part of the pan. That turned out to not be such a great idea.

Plated, with some oat-milk whipped cream. It was actually really good, and a relatively light option as apple pies go. Happy Thanksgiving…2.5 years later.
